BROCKPORT - Tied before the game. Still tied afterward.
That was the result of Fredonia State's 1-1 tie with the Brockport Golden Eagles in SUNYAC men's hockey Saturday night.
Both teams exited the game with 3-6-1 SUNYAC records. The Blue Devils are 5-12-2 overall. Brockport is 4-12-2.
The Blue Devils and Golden Eagles entered the night in a three-way tie with Potsdam for the fifth place. Six teams make the SUNYAC playoffs.
Fredonia State's Mat Hehr scored with 6:32 left in the third period to offset a goal by Brockport's James Ryan three minutes earlier.
It was Hehr's sixth goal of the season and his second against the Golden Eagles. He had the lone goal in the Blue Devils' 1-0 win when the teams met Oct. 27 at Steele Hall.
Will McLaughlin was credited with an assist. It was his wide-angle shot from the point which set up Hehr, who batted in the rebound from just in front of the net.
Fredonia State goaltender Mark Friesen made 39 saves. Jared Lockhurst made 37 saves in the Brockport net.
The Blue Devils are back on the road next Saturday for a SUNYAC games at Morrisville.
Devils drop road
game at Buff State
BUFFALO - The Fredonia State women's basketball team dropped a SUNYAC game, 81-55, at Buffalo State on Saturday evening.
Jaimie Warren led the Devils with 19 points and seven rebounds. Becky Hebert added 11 points and Jenna Austin (Cherry Creek/Pine valley) had six points, three assists and five rebounds. Nikole Lindquist (Cherry Creek/Pine Valley) had six points and six rebounds.
The Devils fell to 8-6 overall and 3-5 in SUNYAC play. Buffalo State (8-7, 4-4 SUNYAC) was led by Kala Crawford with 18 points and Bianca Smiley with 17.
Fredonia State shot a solid 14 of 19 from the free throw line, compared to 12 of 14 by Buffalo State. The Bengals led the battle on the boards, outrebounding the Devils 38-30.
The Devils travel to Geneseo on Tuesday for a women's men's doubleheader. Tipoff is slated for 6 p.m.

Ficarro wins women's
1-meter at Trinity
SAN ANTONIO, Texas - Fredonia State senior Sarah Ficarro captured the women's 1-meter diving Saturday on the second day of Trinity Diving Invitationals.
Ficarro scored 476.55 points to finish 25 points ahead of Trinity's Ruth Hahn. Both women were All-Americans at the 2012 NCAA Division III championship meet
Also for the Blue Devils, junior Ashley Keller and Katelyn Haley finished third and fourth in the competition with 436.35 and 434.50 points, respectively. Their scores exceeded the NCAA qualifying score of 395 points.
Fredonia State's Breena Cogliandro finished seventh among the 12 divers diving to a personal best total of 384.20 points.
Meanwhile, in the men's meet Fredonia State senior Ryan Fuller set a new pool record with an 11-dive score of 506.45 points.
Fuller's point total easily surpassed the NCAA qualification point total in the process.
Indoor Track & Field
Sprinters shine for Devils at SPIRE meet
GENEVA, Ohio - Two sprinters ran Fredonia State top 10 times Saturday at the SPIRE North Coast Track & Field Open.
Eric Williams, a freshman, and Kow Ephirim-Donkor, a sophomore, had times of 7.24 seconds and 7.25 seconds, respectively, in the 60-meter dash. Williams finished 10th, Ephirim-Donkor 11th in the event.
Also, Williams was fourth in the 60 hurdles in 8.49 seconds - .01 slower than his time last month at RIT, which is second-best in program history - and was sixth in the 200 in 23.27 seconds. Ephirim-Donkor was seventh in the 200.
There was one other top 10 addition, an 8:46.68 by sophomore Zakk Hess in the 3,000 - 10th fastest by a Blue Devil.
Other Fredonia State running highlights at the SPIRE meet:
Pete Francia was sixth in the 3,000; Jonmichael Knappwas seventh in the 400 and Connor Hayward was seventh in the 800;
In field events Cody Dahleiden was second and Ben Goebel fourth in the pole vault; Alex Brennan was fourth in the triple jump; and Sawyer Bell was eighth in the men's 35-pound weight throw.
