Anne C. Svilow, 62, of Dunkirk died Thursday morning (Jan. 24, 2013) at St. Vincent Health Center in Erie, Pa. Anne was born August 23, 1950 in Des Moines,
Iowa. She spent her youth in Rockford, Illinois where she graduated from Guilford High School. Anne is preceded in death by her father, Clement John Svilow Sr. and
her mother, Katherine Kay Kaupanger. She is survived by two sisters and one brother: Katherine "Kit" (Johnston) of Rockford, Illinois; Betsy. (Starkey) of Stoughton, Wisconsin; and Clement John Svilow Jr. of Madison, Wisconsin; also, Anne is survived by numerous loving nieces, nephews, grandnephews, and one grandniece.
Anne's "family" in the Dunkirk area consisted of her best friends Jo Ann Heckathorn (and her loving family) and Martha Lukasik. Also, regrettably, there are too many friends and loved ones to list by name who reciprocated the nurturing and loving care that were the core of Anne's true nature. Anne enjoyed the Dunkirk area
and was a devoted and active member and officer of Dunkirk Elk's Lodge 922. She was also a member of Women of the Moose, Dunkirk Chapter 294.
She also worked for the board of Elections of Chautauqua County. She was employed as a waitress in several area restaurants, most recently, Perkins of
Fredonia. A visitation will be held at the McGraw-Kowal Funeral Home in Dunkirk from 7-9 Monday evening. A memorial to celebrate Anne's life will be held at a
later date. Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations in Anne's name for ASPCA will be greatly appreciated.
