Friesen chosen as SUNYAC Goaltender of the Week

February 5, 2013
Special to the OBSERVER , The OBSERVER

Fredonia State junior Mark Friesen has been chosen SUNYAC Goaltender of the Week through games played last weekend.

Friesen made 60 saves in two games as the Blue Devils swept Potsdam and Plattsburgh in Steele Hall for the first time in seven years. His 2-0 win over Potsdam was Friesen's second shutout of the season and his fifth as a collegian. The lone goal he allowed to Plattsburgh in a 2-1 win came on a power play. Plattsburgh came into the game winners of five straight games and ranked No. 9 in NCAA Division III.

The two wins left Friesen with a 5-6-1 record in SUNYAC games, with a 2.56 goals-against average and a save percentage of .913.
