MAYVILLE - Scout Sunday was recently celebrated at St. Mary of Lourdes Church in Mayville. Boy Scouts of Troop 126 and Cub Scout Pack 126 served during Mass by welcoming parishioners, distributing bulletins, offering the gifts of bread and wine, reading the prayers of the faithful, ushering and assisting with the collection.
Boy Scouts of America was founded on Feb. 8, 1910, with one of the 12 points of the Scout Law being "A Scout is reverent." Each year Scouts across the nation celebrate this important milestone with Blue and Gold Banquets, Scout Sunday observances, campouts and activities.
Eagle Scout Michael Parker coordinated the Scout Sunday Mass with Father Todd Remick and Troop 126 Scouts: Eagle Scout Delaney Stewart, Tim Stewart, Joey Parker, Unit Commissioner Judy Parker, Pack 126 Bear Cub Jeffery Bajdo and his father, Bear Den Assistant Leader Phil Bajdo.
