BUFFALO - The second quarter did in the Fredonia Lady Hillbillies (5-6, 6-11) on Tuesday as they fell to Immaculata (15-4), 59-46, in non-league girls high school basketball action.
After trailing just 13-11 after the first quarter, the Lady Hillbillies were on the wrong end of a 22-6 run which put them behind, 35-17 at halftime.
"I thought we came in ready to play," Fredonia coach Carol Zirkle said. "We did a really good job in the first quarter. We had a letdown offensively. We turned the ball over and it led to some easy buckets. We weren't able to stop Taylor Heinold that quarter. She scored at will."

Heinold scored 14 of her game-high 23 points in the second quarter. Heinold was 8-for-8 from the charity stripe and sank three shots from the field during the second quarter.
Fredonia outscored the home team, 29-24, in the second half, but could not overcome the first-half deficit.
Morgan Genovese led the Lady Hillbillies with 11 points while Emily Valvo had nine steals in defeat. Kirsta Wheelock and Sarah Cruver each had five rebounds in a losing effort.
"I think we showed a lot of improvement from the first time we played them," Zirkle said. "We came out ready to play the first quarter. We were able to play with them and that's a good sign going into playoffs."
Fredonia returns to action today when it travels to Allegany-Limestone.
Silver Creek 62, North Collins 21
SILVER CREEK - Jordan Brooks poured in 29 points and pulled down 11 rebounds as the Silver Creek Black Knights (6-6, 9-8) made light work of the North Collins Lady Eagles (2-9, 3-14), 62-21, Tuesday in non-league girls high school basketball action.
Silver Creek used a 22-7 second-quarter run to build a 34-18 halftime edge. In the second half, Silver Creek held the visitors to just three points while scoring 28 to put the game away.
Marissa Donovan added 10 points and six steals while Jayde Lewis had 10 assists, eight steals and nine points in the win.
Silver Creek returns to action Friday as it Pinks out the Gym against Chautauqua Lake.
