Eleanor E. Papania, 87, formerly of Bloomsburg, PA, more recently of Dunkirk, NY then Absolut Care of Dunkirk, passed away Feb. 12, 2013. Born in
Bloomsburg, throughout her married life she also had lived in Western PA, on Long Island and in Florida. Eleanor is survived by her daughter, Gwen
Papania and her husband, Jon Espersen of Fredonia; son Joseph Papania and his partner Edgar Santa Cruz of Chicago; and two stepgrandchildren, Amanda Espersen of North Carolina and Aaron Espersen of Dunkirk. She was predeceased by Joe, her loving husband of 58 years; her parents,

Helen and Elmer Woodruff. and her brother Vernon, who died before she was born. Eleanor was very active in Grace Episcopal Church in Massapequa, Long Island, serving on the Altar Guild and working in the Thrift Shop for many years. After moving to Dunkirk, she joined St. John the Baptist Episcopal Church and found a new church family. She loved art, gardening, decorating, sewing, knitting, cats and all things beautiful. She was a
wonderful cook and baker, and an accomplished watercolorist. Eleanor loved her family and her pets and will be dearly missed. A private
burial will be held at a later date in Jonestown, PA. There will be no calling hours. Arrangements are by the McGraw-Kowal Funeral Home.
