CASSADAGA - Cassa-daga Job Corps Academy has announced that Stanley Kelly and Ken Dahlin have been recognized as the last two Employees' of the Month for 2012.
Kelly, a resident of Cassadaga, works as a safety and security officer for the academy. He has been recognized by his co-workers for his dedication and commitment to keeping the students and staff of the academy safe. In addition to his routine duties he is also responsible for inspecting the fire equipment at the academy. As chief for the Lily Dale Fire Department, Kelly has also volunteered numerous hours leading special instruction during Universal Safety Week and Fire Prevention Month activities. He has been employed at the academy for 11 years and has also worked as a food service aide and serves as one of the academy's first aid and CPR instructors.
Kelly stated, "I'm glad to be working here; the staff and the students make this place feel like a small community. I feel respected every day I come to work and enjoy helping our students prepare for their future."
Dahlin resides in Stockton and works as a residential advisor. He has been employed by the academy for 13 years and has previously worked as a safety and security officer as well as a clerk. Dahlin has been recognized for his ability to provide unique and highly relatable lessons on the Job Corps Career Success Standards to students, in addition to consistently maintaining high standards and expectations in his dormitory.
Dahlin commented that "the best part of my job is being a part of a team that is dedicated to making a positive impact on the lives of young people and having that effort validated every time a student succeeds."
Social Development Director Sylvia Swan said that Dahlin is "very well respected by students and staff members. His calm and caring demeanor is an example to all."
The Cassadaga Job Corps Academy provides Career Technical Training to young people age 16-24 to assist them with gaining employment in high demand occupational fields. Students enrolled in Cassadaga Job Corps will pursue careers in construction or healthcare and all students enrolled attend on full federal scholarship.
