GOWANDA - If you would like to enjoy better balance, independence and energy, the Cattaraugus County Falls Prevention Coalition has just the program for you. Six Steps to Better Balance, a six-week program to help people 55 and over avoid injuries and fears associated with falling, will be offered in the gymnasium at Community Place (Academy Place), 1 School St., Gowanda from 10 to 11 a.m. beginning Wednesday, March 6.
Six Steps to Better Balance is a nationally recognized program designed by Betty Perkins-Carpenter, Ph.D. The simple but powerful activities are designed to help you practice falls prevention in the comfort of your own home regardless of your physical condition or age. The program will be conducted by Stacy Lockwood-Hall, LMSW, Cattaraugus County Department of Aging Caseworker and Sharon Noecker, Healthy Community Alliance Community Program Coordinator. Class size is limited so register today by calling the Healthy Community Alliance at 532-1010. The $16 registration includes a copy of "How to Prevent Falls" by Dr. Perkins-Carpenter and a $5 fee that will be refunded at the end of the program to everyone who attends all six classes.
