What started with 24 teams - 13 boys' teams and 11 girls' teams - is now down to seven, as the Section 6 high school basketball playoffs have reached the semifinals.
There are two boys games tonight, as No. 4 Fredonia (15-4) will square off against No. 1 Charter School for Applied Technologies (16-3) at 5:30 p.m., at Buffalo State. In Class D action, No. 1 Brocton (16-1) will look to get past No. 5 Ellicottville (9-10) at Jamestown Community College. The game is set to tip-off at 6 p.m.
With a win, the Hillbillies would face either No. 2 Cleveland Hill (17-1) or No. 3 East (13-6) on Saturday. That game would start at noon, at Buffalo State. The Bulldogs could advance to the Class D final against either No. 2 Sherman (14-5) or No. 3 Clymer (14-5) - two teams which they have gone 3-1 against this season. The final will be played on Friday at JCC, at 5:30 p.m.

The Lady Marauders will have to get past the Olean Lady Huskies in the girls Class B-1 semifinals on Wednesday while the Black Knights will need to get past MST?Seneca in their boys Class C-2 semifinal on Tuesday.
On Tuesday, No. 1 Silver Creek (19-0) will look to advance to Friday's Class C-2 final at JCC - which is scheduled for 7 p.m. - but will have to get past No. 4 MST Seneca (12-7) in its semifinal. Like the final, the semifinal is set to be played at JCC. Game time is 6 p.m.
With a win in the semifinals, the Black Knights would take on either No. 3 Portville (17-2) - a team they beat twice this year - or No. 2 Maple Grove (18-1).
Pine Valley (11-8), the No. 4 seed in the girls' Class D bracket, will take on No. 1 Clymer (17-2) at 6 p.m., at Chautauqua Lake Central School. A win would advance the Lady Panthers to the finals against either No. 2 Sherman (17-2) or No. 3 Ellicottville (12-6) on Saturday at Jamestown High School, at 6:30 p.m.
There are three games scheduled in the girls' brackets on Wednesday, as Dunkirk, Chautauqua Lake and Lake Shore will all look to advance.
In Class B-1 action, the No. 4 Lady Marauders (15-5) will take on CCAA Division 1 foe Olean (16-3) - Class B-1's top seed - at 8 p.m., at Sweet Home High School.
In earlier action, the undefeated Lady Thunderbirds - the No. 2 seed in Class C-2 - will be at Jamestown High School at 6 p.m., to take on No. 3 Olmsted (8-6) while the Lady Eagles (15-4), the area's lone large school, will take on No. 6 Cheektowaga (9-10) in a Class A-2 semifinal. The game is scheduled for a 6 p.m. tip-off at Kenmore West High School.
Should Dunkirk get past Olean, they would face either No. 2 East Aurora (14-5) or No. 11 Maryvale (11-8) at Niagara County Community College on Saturday, at 5 p.m. With a win Wednesday, the Lady Thunderbirds could see either No. 1 Frewsburg (17-2) or No. 4 Maple Grove (12-7) in the finals, which will be played Saturday at 4:45 p.m., at Jamestown High School. The Lady Eagles could see either No. 1 Iroquois (13-6) or No. 4 Pioneer (11-8) on Saturday, at NCCC, at 2 p.m., in the Class A-2 finals.
