Softball team to host

Winners from six Local Councils of Knights of Columbus sponsored Basketball Series Free throw tournaments moving up the competitive ladder recently competed in the Prestigious District Shoot-off in Dunkirk. These winners move up to the Regional Tournament at Kenmore, then to States at Syracuse. State winners get to compete in National at West Point.
The Fredonia State softball team will be hosting a spaghetti dinner Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Dunkirk Moose Lodge on Lake Shore Drive. They will be serving all-you-can eat spaghetti, meatballs, side salad, bread and dessert.
Along with the food, there will also be locally donated raffle baskets. The team members will be waiting tables and mingling during the event.

Brocton-Portland
Babe Ruth try-outs
The Brocton-Portland Babe Ruth try-outs will be held Saturday, March 9 from 1-2:30 p.m. at the Brocton Central School gymnasium.
Players should bring a glove and copy of their birth certificate.
Players should 13-15 by April 30.

Little League
Brocton-Portland Little League will hold registration for the 2013 season at the Ahira Hall Memorial Library in Brocton, on Saturday, March 2 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
T-ball is open to players ages 4-7 and both softball and baseball is available for ages 7-12. All players must be accompanied by a parent or guardian to registration, and first-time players must bring a copy of their birth certificate to sign-ups.
Teens and adults interested in coaching or volunteering with BPLL must provide a valid driver's license and pass a background check.

Westfield Little
League Registration
Registration for the 2013 baseball season will be today from 6-8 p.m. in the Westfield Academy and Central School cafeteria.
Baseball is open to those who will be 4 years old and will not reach 13 years of age before May 1, 2013. Softball is open to those who will be 9 years old and will not reach 13 years of age before Jan. 1, 2013.
All players must register with a parent or guardian present while newcomers must bring a copy of their birth certificate to registration. The fee is $35 per player for all age groups. Families with three or more players will pay a maximum of $100. Players must participate in the league fundraiser or pay the buyout fee.
Westfield Little League is also looking for volunteers to serve as managers, coaches and team parents during registration. Those interested will need to fill out a form and provide a copy of a valid driver's license.

Little League
Cassadaga Little League will hold signups for Major and Minor players (ages 7-12) today at the Cassadaga Elementary School from 4:30 to 6 p.m.
At the same time, there will be signups for the 13-year-old Prep league.

Sports Rap will air tonight from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on Channel 12 in Dunkirk and Channel 5 in Fredonia.
Ed Eaker will be joined by Jim Bunge, Rich Catalano and Bob Patterson.
Special guest Steve Green will also be on hand to discuss the 8th Annual Charity Basketball Game on Friday at Dunkirk High School.
