Helen F. Long, 85, of Dunkirk died Saturday (March 2, 2013) at home.
She was born March 9, 1927 in Dunkirk, the daughter of the late John and Nellie (Mazurek) Pietrkiewicz.
A lifelong Dunkirk resident, Mrs. Long was a Dunkirk High School graduate, Class of 1944.
A homemaker, she was a parishioner of Blessed Mary Angela Parish-St. Hedwig Church.
Mrs. Long was an avid Yankees and Bills fan. She also enjoyed playing bingo in her younger years.
Survivors include three sons, John Bialaszewski of Dunkirk, Gerald Bialaszewski of Fredonia and Ronald Bialaszewski of Dunkirk; one sister, Virginia Spencer of Fredonia; two brothers, Joseph (Theresa) Pietrkiewicz of Hamburg and Valentine (Joyce) Pietrkiewicz of Florida; four grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Felix V. Bialaszewski Jr., who died July 27, 1958; her second husband, Carl R. Long Jr., who died April 16, 2000; her son, Carl R. Long III; and three brothers, Frank, Anthony and Roman Pietrkiewicz.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial for Helen and her son Carl R. Long III which will be celebrated Saturday morning at 9:30 in Blessed Mary Angela Parish Church of St. Hedwig. There will be no calling hours. Arrangements are by the McGraw-Kowal Funeral Home.
