Fredonia Native Nick Bailen

Helps RPI to Pair of Wins

Fredonia native Nick Bailen helped the Rensselaer Poyltechnic Institute, the No. 17 ranked NCAA Division I men's hockey team, to a pair of wins this past weekend while also being named Player of the Week for the week ending March 3.

The Engineers picked up a 5-0 win over Clarkson and a 4-1 win over St. Lawrence, as Bailen recorded five points on a goal and four assists, earning a plus-5 rating over the two games. The Engineers finished the regular season 17-12-5 and 12-7-3 in the ECAC.

It was Bailen's second time being named Player of the Week, having earned the award previously on Feb. 12. Bailen, a senior defenseman, leads the Engineers in points with 31 (12 goals, 19 assists). Nationally, he is second amongst defenseman, averaging .94 points per game while scoring seven power-play goals, good enough for seventh in the country.

Bailen will look to help the Engineers in the ECAC playoffs, which begin March 15.
