MAYVILLE - Melissa Bartok, director of the Mayville Library, read to kindergarten students at Chautauqua Lake Central School as part of the district's Read Across America Day celebration.
She gave each student a bookmark to take home and mentioned the library's story times for pre-school and elementary-aged children at 4:30 p.m. each Thursday. She also invited the children to view movies at the library each Monday at 4 p.m.
Bartok was just one guest reader in the elementary grades. Retired music teacher Rick Lundquist made a guest appearance as "The Cat in the Hat" and read to all students from pre-kindergarten through grade 2 and their age mates in BOCES classes at CLCS, while volunteer readers from the National Honor Society, community members and other teachers visited individual classrooms, grades 3-6, as well as BOCES classes of older students, to read favorite stories.
