Silver Creek Department of Public Works foreman Ralph Crawford was upset over a commentary that was published earlier this month in this newspaper that was critical of his department. He then offered his take at a recent meeting about an accident with a village vehicle.
Get over it.
Crawford, Silver Creek residents may remember, was in favor of putting the village's DPW facility outside of the village limits at its present location in the town of Hanover at Routes 5 and 20. Even though it was approved by the Village Board, his input and recommendations may lead to a large chunk of money owed by village taxpayers if the Federal Emergency Management Agency does not reimburse the village for moving to the facility.
Crawford's choice of the facility, which was no accident, could be much more damaging than the incident with the village vehicle.
Let that be a lesson to all governmental board members. People like Crawford are employees who have a vested interest in board decisions.
What's best for him, may not be best for the community he works for.
