Christy M. Smathers, 32, of Silver Creek, was taken into custody by members of the Silver Creek Police Department Friday on a secret Chautauqua County Grand Jury warrant.
The grand jury issued the warrant for multiple counts of third-degree possession of a controlled substance and third-degree sale of a controlled substance after a case was brought by the Chautauqua County Attorney General's Office based on information from the Southern Tier Regional Drug Task Force.
It is alleged Smathers sold quantities of cocaine to task force agents on numerous occasions in the city of Dunkirk.
Smathers was taken to Dunkirk Lockup and was transported to the Chautauqua County Jail pending arraignment before Judge John T. Ward in County Court.
Smathers' arrest is a result of two months of investigation into the sale of cocaine in the city of Dunkirk. Investigation is ongoing and more arrests are expected as a result of information obtained.
The Southern Tier Drug Task Force is made up of the Chautauqua County Sheriff's Department and the City of Dunkirk Police Department.
Authorities continue to ask members of the community to call local police or the task force whenever they observe drug-related activity.
