RIPLEY - A Bemus Point resident was charged following an accident Friday night on Route 76.
According to Sheriff's Deputies, patrol located a vehicle that had crashed at the intersection of Route 76 and Route 6 around 11 p.m. in the town of Ripley. The driver had apparently fled the scene on foot.
Deputies searched the area and spoke to neighbors and developed information on the operator's description. Deputies located the operator and owner of the vehicle not far from the accident scene, at around 12:10 a.m. The suspect was identified as Kamal K. Korkonda, 29.
Following the investigation, Korkonda was charged with two counts of driving while intoxicated, speeding and disobeying a stop sign.
He was taken into custody for processing and later released. He is scheduled to appear in Ripley Town Court.
