GOWANDA - Ruby M. Kempf, age 95, of Hamburg formerly of Gowanda, passed away Saturday March 30, 2013 surrounded by family in the Elderwood Health Care at Lakewood where she had been convalescing since last Monday. Prior to her stay at Elderwood she had resided at Rosewood in Hamburg for the past few years.
Born July 30, 1917 in Gowanda the daughter of Anton and Frances (Zumer) Majcen.
Ruby married Norman A. Kempf in St. Joseph's RC Church, Gowanda on Aug. 22, 1945. Norman passed away Dec. 4, 1967.

Survivors include 2 daughters, Susan Kempf of Clarence, NY and Mrs. Thomas (Martha) Scholl of Hamburg; grandchildren Lisa and Kristin Nice along with Heidi, Renee', Aimee' and Erich Tschopp. Great grandchildren Chloe and Aiden. Ruby is also survived by cousins Marinka Zumer Mastek and Klemen Zumer.
Besides her parents and husband, Ruby was preceded in death by her grandson Brian T. Scholl. Brian passed away Oct. 23, 1999.
Friends may call at the SCHINDLER FUNERAL HOME, 44 Center St., Gowanda (716) 532-4200 from 3 to 7 p.m. today. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 3, 2013 when a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph's RC Church, 90 East Main St., at 9 a.m. (gather at church). Interment in the Holy Cross Cemetery, Gowanda. Fr. Joseph Porpiglia and Fr. Walter Szczesny will con-celebrate.
