MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - Dunkirk (0-3) dropped a pair of games at the Grand Strand Classic in Myrtle Beach, S.C., falling to Hamilton, Ohio, 8-0, on Tuesday and South Lenoir, N.C., 10-0, on Wednesday.
"We're not hitting the ball," Dunkirk head coach John Sliwa said. "Our hitting is not where it needs to be. We had 11 strikeouts (Tuesday). We just kept chasing bad pitches."
Joyce Bomasuto suffered the loss in the circle in both games, allowing 13 runs over seven innings of work while adding a hit in each game at the plate.
"We made better contact (Wednesday)," Sliwa noted. "The weather is just not cooperating down here, but it is what it is."
A bright spot for the Lady Marauders was the pitching of Amy Kaufman, who allowed a run on a hit over three innings on Tuesday.
"I was real happy with Amy's performance," Sliwa said. "It was her first varsity experience."
Nicole Balzer added a hit in Dunkirk's loss to Hamilton while Khee Nance and Alexis Clark hit safely against Lenoir.
"I'm pretty happy with the way we're playing defense," Sliwa said. "Our pitchers need more work and the hitters are just going to have to adjust to live pitching. We worked on that quite a bit (Wednesday). We had a good practice where we worked on hitting the ball in different locations and at different speeds."
The losses concluded Dunkirk's participation in the Grand Strand Classic.
