Donna J. Straight, 80, of Dunkirk, NY, passed away peacefully Wednesday morning (April 3, 2013) at the Chautauqua County Home in Dunkirk with her family by her side.
She was born Oct. 11, 1932 in Dunkirk to the late Gerald and Lenora (Johnson) Cooper.
Donna loved working as a waitress at Cease's and the Triangle Restaurant. She was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose Chapter 294 and American Legion Auxiliary Post 62, Dom Polski Club and the Kosciuszko Polish Home.

An avid Bills fan, she loved spending time with family, and playing bingo and "I GOT IT" games at the fair.
Wife of 20 years to the late Donald Straight. Donna leaves behind her four daughters, Deborah (Richard) Zaverl of Depew, N.Y., Linda (Albert) Keppel of Westfield, N.Y., Carol (Geri) Miller Schmatz of Morris, Ill., and Denice (Schmatz) Ludlow of Elkhart, Ind.; grandchildren Shannon and Ashley Zaverl of Depew, N.Y., Tracy (Matt) Keppel Leonard of Woodbridge, VA, Scott (Mellisa) Keppel of Chandler, AZ, Jason Schmatz of Indianapolis, Ind., Hayden and Abby Ludlow of Elkhart, Ind. Also her five great grandchildren, Gavin, Alex and Gabe Keppel and Maddy and Peyton Leonard. Donna also leaves behind her three brothers, Gerald (Dotti) Cooper of Dunkirk, Herman Cooper of Aurora, Colo., and Robert Cooper of Dunkirk, N.Y. Also survived by many nieces and nephews and her good friends, Linda Pencek and Alice Mekus of Dunkirk.
She was preceded in death by her sisters, Jo Ann Mekus and Nancy Montalvo; brother Allen Cooper; and grandson, Ian Ludlow.
Memorial services will be held Saturday morning at 11 o'clock in the First Unit-ed Methodist Church in Dunkirk. Pastor Judith Cole will officiate. There will be no calling hours. Memorials may be made to the Chautauqua Blind Association or The American Diabetes Association. Arrangements are by the McGraw-Kowal Funeral Home.
