Jason D. Reid, 37, of Lake Road, Silver Creek passed away Saturday afternoon (April 13, 2013) at his residence, surrounded by his family. He lost a courageous battle with cancer after being in remission for 35 years.
He was born in Buffalo, NY, on Jan. 23, 1976 to David J. Reid and Jacalyn (Amblen) Edwards.
In 1994, Jason graduated from Hutch Tech High School, where he was a member of the Kappa Sigma Phi Fraternity. On Aug. 13, 2005, he married Christen L. Wagner at the home of James and Jacalyn Edwards on the lake in Silver Creek, NY.
Jason worked as a service writer for Russo's Auto Service in Buffalo, NY. His passion was working on vehicles, especially trucks. He enjoyed modifying and beefing them up. It got to the point where people recognized his work when they saw it. He was an avid Buffalo Sabres and Bills fan and a mug holding member of Danny's Restaurant in Orchard Park. Traveling with his wife Christen to Australia for their honeymoon was a very special time in his life; also, visiting Aruba with family and friends meant a lot to him.
Jason is survived by his wife, Christen, of Silver Creek; his father David (stepmother Sandy) Reid of Buffalo; his mother, Jacalyn and his stepfather, James Edwards Sr. of Silver Creek; his mother-in-law, Robin Nixon of Brocton, NY; a sister, Jennifer (Jeremy) Wright of Eden; a nephew, Gavin Wright of Eden; three stepbrothers, Thomas (Rachel) Cummings of Beverly Hills, Calif., David (Ann) Cummings of Santee, Calif., James M. Edwards Jr. of Medina, NY; and two stepsisters, Rachel Edwards of Raleigh, NC, and Kate (John) Worsley of Durham, NC.
He was predeceased by his paternal grandmother, Ruth M. Reid; and maternal grandparents, Clarence and Lydia Amblen.
