NORTH COLLINS - Jared Keppel and Brandon Zielinski each drove in five runs for North Collins (3-2, 3-0) Friday afternoon as the Eagles eased past CCAA Division 4 foe Ellicottville (1-4, 0-3), 13-3.
Zielinski started the Eagles' scoring in the bottom of the first with a two-run single and added a two-run double in the bottom of the third, before chipping in a run-scoring single in the bottom of the fourth. As for Keppel, the senior had a solo home run in the home half of the second, and a three-run double in the third.
Zielinski finished 3-for-3 while Keppel finished a triple shy of the cycle and three runs scored. He also earned the win on the mound, going the distance in the five-inning, weather-shortened affair, allowing three runs - two earned - on two hits while striking out 10 and walking seven.
Jayden Keough added an RBI single in the bottom of the first, helping the Eagles to a 5-0 lead, which they increased to 6-3 after the second, 11-3 after the third and 13-3 after the fourth.
For Ellicottville, Tom Eastman scored all three runs with his triple in the top of the second inning. Robert Sawicki suffered the loss after he allowed eight runs on six hits while striking out three and walking two over two innings of work.
