Southwestern (3-1) took care of Fredonia (2-3) in CCAA Division 1 boys tennis Tuesday, 4-1, as the Hillbillies only win came in third singles, where Nick Johnston defeated the Trojans' Alex Bower, 7-6, 5-7, 6-3.
"The highlight of the day was Nick Johnston winning a three-hour match against Alex Bower," Fredonia head coach Lisa Johnston said. "And despite the intensity of the match, both players displayed great sportsmanship, which is incredibly important in tennis."
Matt Johnson defeated Fredonia's Jacob Thompson, 6-0, 6-0, in first singles, Quinn White dropped John Cole, 6-1, 6-1, in second singles.
In first doubles, the Trojans' Adam Girts and Rahim Karimi defeated Aidan Lang and Tyler Cassidy, 7-6, 2-6, 6-4, and Marcus Lugo and Lucas Przygodsky defeated the tandem of Mike Johnson and Eric Jabot, 7-5, 6-3.
