One of the community treasures worth trumpeting in our area takes center stage tonight in King Concert Hall at Fredonia State University.
At 7 p.m., the New Horizons Band will be performing its spring concert. The band is made up of more than 60 members at least 50 years old who reside in Angola, Brocton, Cassadaga, Derby, Dunkirk, Forestville, Fredonia, Lakewood, Lily Dale, Portland, Sheridan, Silver Creek, Sinclairville, Strykersville and Westfield. The musicians are led by Dr. Katherine Levy.
"Music making is just too much fun to leave only to younger folks," Levy said. "Almost anyone can enjoy learning to play a musical instrument when good instruction, a friendly environment, and lots of helping hands are available."
All are welcome to see the pride of this group during the performance. One other bonus - the event is free.
