JAMESTOWN - The Chautauqua Regional Youth Ballet celebrates the beginning of National Dance Week with a 2-week exhibit of its Ballet Costume Collection. The exhibition, titled The Art of Costume, will be on display from Saturday through May 12 at the Dykeman-Young Gallery located on the second floor at 100 E. Second St. and is free of charge. Gallery hours are Tuesday through Saturday 1-7 p.m.
This exhibit provides a rare peek at the costume collection of the Chautauqua Regional Youth Ballet featuring exquisite costumes and costume pieces from several ballets. CRYB has been presenting ballet productions in the community since 1995 and in addition to costumes from their annual Nutcracker, the exhibit will also include costumes from Paquita, La Bayadere, Swan Lake and Les Sylphides among others.
On Friday evening, an opening reception will be held from 7-9 p.m. Tickets to the opening reception which will include music and refreshments are $15 and available through the Reg Lenna Box Office at 484-7070.
One of the tutus that will be on exhibit - the Snow Queen tutu from Swan Lake adorned with rhinestones and Swaroski crystals and generously donated by former CRYB student Amy Weidert.
