Join in at the Dunkirk Free Library for an interactive exploration of the unexpected nature of poetry.
Come in between now and May 6 and keep an eye open among the books, in the computer lab, and in the magazine room for 20 poems hidden about the premises - because poetry is, literally, everywhere. The lucky explorers who find a poem or two are encouraged to share it on the library's Facebook page along with any reactions the words and imagery may have elicited.
On May 7, the library will host an open reading and take part in communal poetry-writing sessions through Exquisite Corpse and book spine poetry. This spontaneous generation of poetry should lead to interesting and surprising results.
"Unexpected: A Celebration of Poetry" will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. This event will comprise a capstone to National Poetry Month.
