Firefighters were still on the scene of an early morning fire that destroyed a medical complex Monday.
Sam Salemme, Jamestown Fire Department battalion chief, said the fire was reported around 2:30 a.m. at 23 Ivy St. Much of the complex, which houses Krempa Medical Associates, a podiatrist office and a laser center, was engulfed in flames by the time first responders arrived.
"By the time I got here, everything in the middle of the structure was in flames," Salemme said. "There's not much else I can say about the fire at this time."
Additional firefighters and battalion chiefs were summoned to the blaze. Heavy fire damage was evident at both ends of the structure, with the roof either gone or collapsed.
By 10 a.m., one lane of Foote Avenue was shut down to traffic.
Salemme said Jamestown fire investigators, including a forensic expert, have been at the scene. No further information on the blaze was available.
"We're still working on a cause right now," Salemme said.
