Veneration of Pope John Paul II relic

May 25, 2013
The OBSERVER

The Rev. Matt Nycz, pastor of Blessed Mary Angela Parish, presents a relic of Pope John Paul II for veneration to Krystina Krzal following Mass on the Memorial of Our Lady of Fatima on May 13. More than 100 parishioners and guests participated in the veneration of the relic. It contains a tiny drop of John Paul II's blood which was collected after the assassination attempt on May 13, 1981 at St. Peter's Square in the Vatican. The relic was presented to the Blessed Mary Angela Parish delegation led by Fr. Nycz at a private group audience with the former secretary to Pope John Paul II, Cardinal Stanislaw Dziwisz, in November 2012 in Krakow, Poland.
