Amy Atwell, nurse practitioner for Evercare, a division of United Healthcare, joined forces with the Chautauqua County Home residents, residents' families and staff.
Atwell headed up a campaign to raise awareness and funds for the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life.
During the month of April, Atwell along with the CCH Staff Committee and community volunteers hosted a series of fundraising events that took place at the County Home. A penny drive, basket raffle, Pizza Hut pizza luncheon and bake sale raised funds for the Relay for Life.
Recently Atwell attended the Relay for Life Team Captain's to present a check from the fundraising efforts. Atwell presented a check for $4,000 to Mike Porpiglia, Senior Director for the Relay for Life.
Each year more than four million people in more than 20 countries take part in the Relay for Life. This global phenomenon raises much needed funds and awareness to save lives from cancer. This year those at the Chautauqua County Home will be able to help with that goal.
The Relay for Life is today at SUNY Fredonia.
