On Saturday, the Great Lakes Experience will host its first GLE Festival in Dunkirk. This will be a sister festival to the one held in Buffalo, which has grown to more than 3,200 attendees since its beginning in 2001.
This event is made possible by the support of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Lower Great Lakes Fish and Wildlife Conservation Office and the City of Dunkirk. The festival will focus on the environment and ecology of the Great Lakes and the heritage of our region. There will be free environmental exhibitors, live animals, interactive displays and lots of information about habitat, ecology, science, recreation and fun! Children will also have a chance to participate in a scavenger hunt for prizes.
The festival will run from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. Admission is free. Free parking will be available in city-owned lots on Lake Shore Drive. Food and drinks will be available for purchase. For more information, call Beth Smeader at 545-1700.
