BROCTON - The Brocton Teachers' Association announces the students of the months of May and June.
The middle school Student of the Month for May is eighth-grader Ryene Snow, daughter of Tara Snow of Portland. Ryene is a member of the chorus and leadership programs. She is also an honor roll student and participates in soccer, basketball and softball. Her future plans include becoming a psychologist.
The high school Student of the Month for June is junior Jordon Eckstrom, son of Robert and Rebecca Eckstrom of Portland. Jordon is a member of the National Honor Society, writer for The Brocton Review, and a member of the chorus and envirothon team. He has been a cast member in school musicals. Prior to coming to Brocton, Jordon graduated from NCCS. His future plans are undecided - perhaps the Navy or something in the science field. His favorite class is chemistry.
The middle school Student of the Month for June is seventh-grader David Skinner, son of Allyn and Laurie Skinner of Brocton. David is very active in the music department at Brocton. He is a band and chorus member also participating in the school musicals. He played Oliver in the school Oliver play and this year played Randolph Macaphee in "Bye Bye Birdie." He is a member of the Dunkirk Jazz Invitational, Chautauqua County Band and has participated in a solo festival for band. In addition to his music, David is also an avid soccer player. He plays with the U14 travel soccer program with Westfield in the winter and spring seasons. He is also a member of the Brocton modified baseball team this year.
The high school student of the month is junior Matthew Siragusa, son of Paul and Kathy Siragusa of Brocton. Matt is on the staff for The Brocton Review, the 11th-grade representative for the sportsmanship symposium, an honor roll student, attended the second quarter principal's lunch, and received first place for the best in-depth story from the Western New York School Press Association. He is also on the varsity basketball and baseball teams and a member of St. Anthony's Church. Matt's future plans include attending college but he is undecided on a major.
