BROCTON - The Portland Bicentennial Committee would like to invite all area residents, families or organizations to its Volunteer Sign Up Drive on Monday, June 24 at 7 p.m. at the American Legion in Brocton.
With many exciting components to the 200th birthday celebration of the town, several events, activities and displays will be taking place throughout the weekend of July 12-14. While the committee is a sizeable core group of volunteers, extra hands will be needed for the weekend to make sure all events go off without a hitch.
Since the Fourth of July holiday will be celebrated a week prior, many opportunities exist for individuals, families or group organizations to take an active part in the stitch of Portland's history.
Committee Chairman Dave Travis reminds all residents in the community to take part in the many events that will be taking place, as all will be family oriented and centrally located.
Anyone interested in experiencing the festival celebration as a community volunteer or group is asked to attend the Volunteer Drive on Monday, or they may contact him directly at 716-792-9791 or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org. Festival attendees and volunteers can learn more by visiting the celebration's official website at portlandbicentennial.org.
