Kennedy man charged following fight, stabbing
KENNEDY - On Wednesday, New York State Police from Jamestown with the assistance of the Chautauqua County Sheriff's Department charged Melvyn L. Jackson, 52, of Waterboro Hill Road, Kennedy for second-degree assault, second-degree menacing, and second-degree harassment.
Reportedly, Jackson punched a male subject in the face and then stabbed a female subject in the hand. He fled the scene prior to arrival of the police.
Chautauqua County deputies with K-9 Drago were able to track Jackson and take him into custody.
Jackson was processed at the state police barracks in Jamestown, arraigned in the Town of Ellicott and committed to the Chautauqua County Jail on $25,000 cash or $50,000 property bail.
The female victim was transported to the WCA Hospital by the Kennedy Volunteer Fire Department and is being treated for her injuries. The male subject refused treatment.
Jamestown man charged following drug investigation
BUSTI - Shane T. Newberry, 26, of Jamestown was charged with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance on Tuesday, June 18.
Newberry was taken into custody by the Lakewood-Busti Police on an outstanding arrest warrant from Busti Town Court. The charges stem from an ongoing investigation into cocaine sales in the village of Lakewood by the Southern Tier Regional Drug Task Force.
It is alleged that Newberry sold cocaine to an agent of the task force. He was arraigned in Busti Town Court and sent to the Chautauqua County Jail without bail pending further action of the court. As a result of this arrest, additional arrests are expected.

CHAUTAUQUA - Jeffrey M. Skellie, 25, of North East Pa., was charged with driving while intoxicated, disobeying a stop sign, unlicensed operation and unregistered motor vehicle on Tuesday, June 16.
At 1 a.m. sheriff deputies were in the area of Webber and Potter roads for a complaint of a large outdoor party. Deputies observed Skellie's vehicle pass a stop sign on Potter Road and turn onto Webber Road and he was found to be intoxicated.
Skellie was released on an appearance ticket for Chautauqua Town Court at a later date.
FORESTVILLE - Tinesha G. Kenny, 23, of Water Street was charged with fourth-degree criminal mischief on Wednesday. At 3:45 p.m. Kenny allegedly broke a window during an argument that took place in the village. She was released on an appearance ticket for Hanover Town Court.
SILVER CREEK - Linda S. Douglas, 55, of Lake Avenue was charged with second-degree harassment on Wednesday. At 6:28 p.m. Douglas was charged for allegedly yelling obscenities at a victim on numerous separate occasions. She was released on an appearance ticket for Silver Creek Village Court.
HANOVER Robin E. Jones, 40, of Irving was charged with obstruction of governmental administration and violating the sewer ordinance Friday.
At 12:55 a.m. deputies were performing a driving while intoxicated investigation on a stopped vehicle on Alleghany Road. Jones was a rear passenger in this vehicle and tried to exit the vehicle multiple times and disregarded deputies commands to stay in the vehicle. Jones did allegedly exit the vehicle and urinated on the side of the road.
He was released on an appearance ticket for Hanover Town Court.
