Point Gratiot was an automobile paradise on Sunday.
Some 400 to 500 vehicles took part in the annual Lake Shore Street Rod Association's annual Harbor Cruise with thousands of onlookers in attendance during the day. Besides the array of autos, hot rods, race cars and trucks, there was also a giving spirit that goes with the event.
According to Kenny Doepp, one of the association's organizers for the day, a great deal of funds have been raised. "Over the years we have donated more than $30,000 to local charities," he said.
This year is no different, with the recipients being Hailey's Honeys for the Arthritis Foundation and Hospice Chautauqua County.
Not only is this group driven to keep their vehicles in top condition, it is also looking to help better the community. That's something worth sounding off about.
