The John Gertsch and Marguerite Zobrist family reunion will be held on Sunday, July 21 at Isle Park at 80 Ford St. in Youngsville, Pa. The event will be held in Pavilion 2 in the rear of the park near the new playground. There is a nearby creek, so guests are invited to bring swim suits, waders or fishing poles. There is a basketball court nearby as well; children can bring balls, outside toys and sidewalk chalk.
Lunch will be served at 1 p.m. Come early to reserve a place to sit and visit. Bring a dish to share, a place setting and a tablecloth. Meatballs, cooked ham, fresh fruit, lemonade, iced tea, coffee and water. Everything else will be pot-luck.
Guests are asked to bring items for the raffle; one for adults and one for children. New or gently-used items only. Tickets are $1. There will also be a 50/50. These both keep the treasury strong.
The eldest man, eldest woman, youngest child, family who drove the farthest and the family with the most members present will be recognized.
Family members are invited to share important events such as marriages, deaths, divorces, births, graduations, etc. and give those news items to Viola Gertsch as they arrive. She is taking over as historian for Ruth Franklin. She will be living by her daughter now in Spartansburg and we will share her address at the next reunion.
All family members and descendants of John Gertsch and Marguerite Zobrist are welcome. It is a wonderful opportunity to see those who live far away, to reminisce about by-gone days and remember good times from previous reunions.
