SHERIDAN (AP) -Authorities say one eastbound lane of the Thruway in New York's southwestern corner has reopened after both lanes were shut down for more than two hours by a tractor-trailer fire.
Troopers say the fire was reported around 8:45 a.m. Monday on the eastbound side of Interstate 90 in the Chautauqua County town of Sheridan, on Lake Erie 35 miles southwest of Buffalo.
A 12-mile stretch was closed between Exit 59 at Dunkirk and 58 at Silver Creek until 11:15 a.m. The left lane has reopened while the right remains closed.
This tractor-trailer fire closed the Thruway from Dunkirk to Silver Creek in both directions this morning.
Troopers say the fire caused a 3-mile traffic backup. Police say the truck was hauling food.
