Youngsters too young to enter and show their own animals at the fair, have the fun opportunity to show a hog at the fair. This Peewee event has become a highlight of the Chautauqua County Fair’s Open Class Hog Show. Each participant receives a special ribbon and medallion for their showmanship efforts. All the Peewees have a little help from an older 4-Her who is glad to show them a few skills. This year Hunter Colvin, pictured with assistance from Lewis Smith, represented their families well. As Hunter’s dad, Ben Colvin, looks on, the team maneuvered skillfully around the show ring and easily handled Ginger the hog. He proudly showed everyone the medallion he was awarded and wants everyone to know that he had fun. This year’s event included 31 youngsters who prove that the Chautauqua County Hog Project will be active for many years to come.
