GOWANDA - The Gowanda Police Department received recognition at the village board meeting by its own chief. Police Chief Joe Alessi wanted to recognize several officers for their dedication.
Alessi cited seven officers for their more than 100 years of combined service to the village. Alessi commended Larry Green for 25 years of service, Steve Raiport for 20 years of service, Pat Nixon for 18 years of service, John Bronneberg for 17 years of service, Rich Cooper for 13 years of service, Jen Alessi for 12 years of service and Dave Hock for 11 years of service. Alessi also requested the hiring of three more officers. The village board approved the hiring of Chris Schreiber, Brandon Voss and Daryl Quinn.
The village also reminded residents to only have 10 items per household for garbage pickup. Residents may also purchase stickers from the Persia Town Hall for the Dayton transfer station. In the matter of garbage pickup, the village clerk also announced the small pink stickers are in stock. Residents may purchase the stickers at village hall for a price of $1.25.
The village also passed a resolution in support of the Hollywood Theater applying for an Office of Parks historical preservation grant.
The village also heard a presentation from Gowanda Area Redevelopment Corporation on future site plans for the Peter Cooper site.
