The Dunkirk High School Class of 1973 recently held its 40th reunion celebration. Classmates gathered for several fun events. On Friday, they held an informal gathering at Rookies on the Lake. There they enjoyed pizza and wings while reminiscing about their high school adventures.
On Saturday, they took a bus to Dunkirk High School, where they toured all of the wonderful new additions that have been built since they graduated. Then the classmates headed to Liberty Winery in Sheridan for some wine tasting. Next, the group decided that no reunion would be complete without a nostalgic trip to The Point to share a few memories and a few beers. Their final stop was at Katerina's for a buffet cocktail party. The committee members made cookies for dessert. A memorial table was set up for the deceased members of the class, with a picture of each departed classmate and a candle in front of each picture. There was also a "memory table" laid with old yearbooks from the classmates' years at Dunkirk High and photos from the previous reunions.
Classmates came back to Dunkirk from various parts of New York, as well as California, Washington, Virginia, Indiana, Florida, Pennsylvania, New Hampshire, Missouri, Texas, South Carolina, Georgia and Maryland.
Classmates pose for a picture on the new DHS football field as they tour the school’s recent improvements.
Committee members were Dick Dill, Kathy Catalano Carrus, Kathy Bradley Dyckes, Pam Chaffee Fabritius, Mary Mancuso Epolito and Elodie Vanderlee Mackowiak.
