It was far from fair. Some may even call it excellent.
But the results speak for themselves - fair attendance increased, many of those who attended offered compliments and many who participated were just as grateful. Overall, it was an outstanding edition of the Chautauqua County Fair.
The event, which runs for a week, began with the bang of a cannon and ended with the bangs of the demolition derby and fireworks. There were plenty of compliments on the rides and the addition of Wednesday night's grandstand event showcasing area fire departments was a nice touch.
Now, the outlook moves to the 133rd edition in 2014. "We are already looking toward next year and we plan on adding some new and exciting attractions," Mike Ferguson, fair spokesman, said.
