Donation theft in Irving lands man ticket
IRVING - An Elma man was ticketed for petit larceny on July 28 after he allegedly stole money from a cancer donation canister at a KwikFill gas station in the town of Hanover.
According to the Chautauqua County Sheriff's Office, at around 1:15 p.m., deputies were called to the KwikFill located at 626 Route 5 and 20 in Irving for an alleged larceny. The subject was identified as Kevin Hennigan, 44. The cancer donation canister did not belong to him.
Hennigan was issued an appearance ticket and will answer the charge in Hanover Town Court at a later date.
Drive-thru pickup leads to DWI arrest
GOWANDA - Bradley Jones, 20, of Irving was arrested on Friday for driving while intoxicated after he was allegedly observed to be drunk by fast food employees at a drive-thru window.
According to a press release by the State Police at Collins, troopers stopped Jones on State Route 438 and Taylor Hollow Road in Gowanda.
Around 6 a.m., an employee at the Tim Hortons in Gowanda alerted a trooper at the drive-thru window that Jones had just pulled out and appeared intoxicated. The trooper quickly caught up to Jones' car and observed him crossing the center line and driving erratically. His car was stopped and he was subsequently found to be intoxicated.
Jones was processed at the State Police Barracks in Collins, where he refused a breathalyzer test. He was arraigned in Collins Town Court and is due back later this month.
Chautauqua County Sheriff's Office
MAYVILLE - August Berkemeier, 68, of Magnolia Road was charged with driving while intoxicated with a blood alcohol content of .08 or more, and failure to keep right on July 30. Deputies responded to the village of Mayville for the report of a vehicle being operated by an intoxicated driver at 8:42 p.m. The vehicle was stopped on Memorial Drive. Berkemeier was identified as the driver and was found intoxicated. He was released on an appearance ticket for Mayville Village Court.
HANOVER - Nicholas R. Lone, 29, of Perrysburg was charged with disorderly conduct on Aug. 1. At 8:30 p.m. deputies were called to Lake Shore Hospital for a disorderly male. Upon arrival, Lone was located in the emergency department and repeatedly used profane language after being told not to do so. Lone was arraigned in Hanover Town Court and sent to the Chautauqua County Jail in lieu of bail.
New York State Police at Collins
COLLINS - On July 20, troopers arrested 28-year-old Joseph Kuntz of Taylor Hollow Road in Collins after a call from the staff at Perkins Hall. Kuntz was reportedly causing problems there. Troopers arrived and found that he had an active arrest warrant for seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance out of the Chautauqua County Sheriff's Department and a bench warrant out of the Cheektowaga Police Department. He was taken into custody and turned over to a Chautauqua County Sheriff's Deputy.
GOWANDA - On July 21, troopers arrested 23-year-old David Wittenzellner of Brant-North Collins Road following a traffic stop on Buffalo Street. Troopers stopped him for not wearing his seatbelt and a computer check revealed there was an arrest warrant for seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance for him from the Evans Police Department. He was taken into custody and taken to Evans Police.
