Louis and Bernice (Learman) Joy, 6337 W. Caron St., Glendale, AZ 85302, recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary at a party hosted by their children, Mark and Debbie, and their spouses.
Lou and Bea met while Bea was attending SUNY at Fredonia, where she earned her Master's Degree in Music Education, and Lou was owner/operator of Joy's Atlantic gas and service station. They married on August 8, 1953 at St. Anthony's Rectory in Fredonia and honeymooned at Lake Placid.
Lou owned several automotive service stations in Fredonia and eventually Mark joined him as a partner/owner of Joy's Service on Rt. 60. Bea was an elementary music teacher for the Dunkirk Public Schools until she and Lou retired in 1981 and they moved to Glendale, AZ to be near their daughter, Debbie.

After moving to Arizona, Lou worked at Sine and Ace Hardware stores and has his own handyman business to keep him busy. Bea became a certified optician and worked at Lenscrafters and other optical stores until she retired for good and now volunteers as a program manager for "Reading for the Blind and Dyslectic" and enjoys "surfing the 'Net" in her spare time. Their son, Mark and his wife Janet, moved to Arizona in 1998 and their daughter Debbie and her husband, Jerry Abrahamson, moved back to Arizona in 1999, so the whole family is within an hour's drive.
The anniversary celebration and dinner took place at Mark and Janet Joy's house in Avondale, AZ with about 20 in attendance, including Bea's sister, Addie, and brother-in-law, Bill Perry, from E. Amherst, NY. Addie was Bea's maid-of-honor when she was married. Bea and Lou enjoy hearing from old friends via email, so if you wish to contact them, do so at email@example.com.
