CHAUTAUQUA - An Orchard Park man was flown by Starflight to Erie County Medical Center Saturday morning after being struck by a vehicle.
Chautauqua County sheriff's deputies report Ramiro Mireles, 53, was struck by a vehicle driven by Richard Dubois, 18, of Bemus Point, who was charged with moving from a lane unsafely.
Deputies said the accident occurred when Dubois' vehicle crested the hill on Route 430, west of the Old Route 17 intersection, and were cars stopped, waiting to make a left-hand turn. Dubois, not having much reaction time, used the shoulder of the road to avoid the stopped vehicles. Mireles was jogging on the shoulder of the road and struck by the passenger-side mirror and lower windshield of the car.
Dubois will appear in Chautauqua Town Court at a later date.
Jamestown man steals waitress' apron
BEMUS POINT - A Jamestown man was arrested Friday night after he stole a waitress' apron at a restaurant on Lakeside Drive.
Chautauqua County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a fight at 11 p.m. Through investigation, it is alleged Kasey S. Sweeney, 21, stole a waitress' apron containing money and personal items. When confronted by staff inside the restaurant, Sweeney became physically resistive and used obscene language. Sweeney was charged with disorderly conduct and petit larceny. He was arraigned in Ellery Town Court and sent to the Chautauqua County Jail in lieu of $500 cash bail.

BEMUS POINT - Brian W. Kinney, 35, of Westfield was charged with driving while intoxicated and failure to signal turn on Saturday. At 1:50 a.m. deputies observed Kinney fail to signal a turn in the vehicle he was operating on Lakeside Drive. During the traffic stop, Kinney was found to be intoxicated. He was released on appearance tickets for Ellery Town Court.
