Thurza E. Murtaugh, 89, of Fredonia, NY died Tuesday (Aug. 13, 2013) at the Chautauqua County Home following a short illness.
She was born April 14, 1924 in Cassadaga, the daughter of the late Otto and Lottie (Horton) Wallen.
Prior to retirement, Thurza was employed by Anthony R. Leone DDS for 24 years.

She was a member of St. Joseph Church, where she was married in October 1943.
Thurza and her husband were the ultimate Buffalo Bills fans, holding season tickets from the time when Jack Kemp was quarterback and games were at the old War Memorial Stadium. They never lost hope that the Bills would one day be Super Bowl champs. Thurza and her friends were affectionately referred to as Burger King Ambassadors as she could be found there daily visting with patrons and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Harry Murtaugh, who died Dec. 31, 1998; daughter Lynn on Aug. 6, 2007; and brothers Hugh and Howard Wallen.
Survivors include a daughter, Beth (Len) Ensalaco of Fredonia; granddaughter Lisa (Larry) Ludemann of Fredonia; and grandsons Len (Lisa) Ensalaco Jr. of Flagler Beach, Fla., and Michael (Lisa) Ensalaco of Mooresville, N.C.
Also survived by eight great-grandchildren, Meghann Ludemann, Christa, Mikaela, Mary Grace, Olivia, Molly,
Michael Jr. and Katherine Ensalaco.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock in St. Joseph Church. Calling hours will be held Saturday from 1-2 p.m. in St. Joseph Church, one hour prior to the Mass. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. Arrangements are by the McGraw-Kowal Funeral
