Ron Johnson's statement in the OBSERVER (Aug. 12) alleged that I am anti-labor and a cause of strife in the work force.
I would like to remind your readers that what Mr. Johnson said about my record is nonsense. I voted in favor of the only labor contract to come before the legislature during my tenure as county legislator. While others voted no, I chose to support the part-time sheriff's contract.
I have a long record of supporting labor through programs and services during my work with the United Ways of Northern and Southern Chautauqua County.
I challenge my opponent to join me in a positive discussion on the issues that matter to the residents of Chautauqua County rather than false distortions that so often dominate our politics. Lean government, tax relief, job readiness, welfare to work, infrastructure investment, and economic growth to achieve family sustaining jobs are the issues that really matter and demand solutions.
