MAYVILLE - Chautauqua County Democratic Committee Chair Norman P. Green has announced the full Democratic endorsement of County Legislature District 5 candidate Amy Farnham in the Sept. 10 Democratic Primary election.
Farnham, a 10-year veteran Sheridan Town Council member, lives on Whitaker Road and is a lifelong Sheridan and Arkwright area resident. She is being opposed in the Democratic primary by Susan Baldwin of Villenova. The winner will move on to challenge GOP nominee and former Republican county election commissioner Terry Niebel of Sheridan.
"Amy is the only candidate who has held elective office of the three candidates running," Green said. "Combined with her successful business experience and knowledge of governmental operations, Amy is the best choice to represent the district."
County legislature District 5 covers Sheridan, Arkwright, Villenova and Cherry Creek. Niebel is the Republican, Conservative and Independence candidate.
No matter the outcome of the Democratic primary, Farnham will be the Working Families Party candidate for the Nov. 5 General Election.
All poll sites in the four town legislature district will be open from noon to 9 p.m. on Sept. 10.
