City home entries being investigated
The Dunkirk Police Department is investigating several entries to homes that occurred Thursday on the 200 blocks of King Street between the hours of 4 and 6 a.m. In two incidents, items from the property were placed below the window to aid the perpetrators in climbing through the window, although both of those owners were home at the time. Police are reminding residents to lock all doors and windows in their homes and report any suspicious activity or persons by calling the department at 366-2266.
Dunkirk man charged after going 101 mph
CHARLOTTE - A Dunkirk man has been charged after being caught speeding on Route 60 Thursday.
Nicholas R. Puffer, 24, of Nevins Street was charged with speeding in excess of 55 mph, reckless operation and operating out of class at 12:20 p.m.
According to the Chautauqua County Sheriff's Office, Puffer was observed traveling north at 101 mph in a 55 mph. The motorcycle was stopped and Puffer was found to not have a motorcycle license. He was issued appearance tickets for Charlotte Town Court.

FRENCH CREEK - Christopher M. John, 32, of Jamestown was charged with driving while intoxicated, operating a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol content of .08 or higher, leaving the scene of a property damage accident, failure to keep right and failure to maintain lane on Wednesday. At 5:11 p.m. deputies responded to the report of a vehicle that allegedly struck a pole and left the scene on French Creek Mina Road. According to police, John was the operator of the vehicle. He was taken into custody and released to a sober party. He will appear in French Creek Town Court at a later date.
