So often we hear the words: "Change is hard to do." Earlier this month, those of us on the airport commission heard about a new approach to airline flights out of Jamestown. Flying out of Jamestown in a Cessna 402 for $49 flat rate fare? Free parking! No TSA lines! Right here in Chautauqua County!
That's the kind of change that could energize travel in and out of our county. That's what happened in the other 15 Essential Air Service (EAS) markets when Cape Air began providing service. In fact, it just could energize other related aspects of the travel and tourism industry in Chautauqua County.
Thanks to the efforts of our airport manager, Sam Arcadipane, we are exploring new options for Chautauqua residents and visitors. Since taking over as airport manager Sam has been on a mission to reenergize passenger travel out of the Greater Chautauqua-Jamestown airport. It started with the new brand and is now attracting new companies looking at our Jamestown travel market. While we are currently in the middle of an essential air service (EAS) contract, it is exciting to know that we may have other options in the future.
Innovation, creativity, customer focus: That kind of thinking is exactly what our County needs to grow and thrive. Congratulations to Sam and stay tuned for more good things to come. So much for the status quo!
