Laura Elizabeth Ahrens and John Henry Messina were united in marriage on June 1, 2013 at 1 p.m. in a double-ring ceremony at St. John's United Church of Christ in Dunkirk. Pastor Zoe Milliman officiated the marriage while Anne Rose provided musical accompaniment.
The bride is the daughter of Glenn and Sharon Ahrens of Dunkirk. The groom is the son of Henry Messina of Fredonia and Nancy (David) Stark of Dunkirk.
The bride was escorted by her brother, Charles E. Clark Jr. She wore a white Morilee organza gown with beaded details, lace and beaded cap sleeves and a sweetheart neckline. She carried 35 purple roses accented by a butterfly.

Jennifer Mason, sister of the bride, served as matron of honor. Kristen Kieth served as maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Jennifer Enser and Christina Nieves, friends of the bride. The attending ladies wore purple cocktail-length dresses with silver sashes. They carried bouquets of purple flowers in a variety of shades. Jocelyn Clark, niece of the bride, served as flower girl.
Best men were Henry Messina of Fredonia, brother of the groom; and Robert Crates of Portland, cousin of the groom. Ushers were C.J. Clark of Fredonia, brother of the groom; and Matthew Hepner, friend of the groom. Ring bearer was Derek Clark, nephew of the bride.
A reception followed the ceremony at the Blessed Mary Angela Social Center in Dunkirk.
The bride is a 2008 graduate of SUNY Fredonia. She is employed by Buffalo Hearing and Speech at the Fredonia location.
The groom is employed by the village of Fredonia.
Mr. and Mrs. John Messina returned to their home in Dunkirk.
