It is a belated, but well deserved, toast for success on Friday afternoon.
Just a mile west of Westfield on Route 20, a grand opening celebration for the Grape Discovery Center is taking place. And though the center has been in operation since Memorial Day weekend, this event comes at the perfect time in the fall season.
The event will feature the introduction of an exhibit room, which is dedicated to the Star family. The room will give visitors and tourists the opportunity to learn the history of the grape-growing business in the area with exhibits of the Concord grape and its cultivation from its beginning.
"The Grape Discovery Center seeks to be an experience destination that supports and promotes the grape industry through sharing stories, engaging, educating and informing the public about all things grape!" notes the vision statement.
Keeping our local brands from area businesses also are a priority at the center, which features wines and juices at the facility.
If you plan to attend, it lasts from 1:30 to 5 p.m. Friday. However, the center also is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday.
