The Anderson-Lee Library concluded its 2013 summer reading program on Aug. 24. Approximately 60 guests attended a performance by Mike Randall and Friends.
There was also a program on ants that included stories, crafts, and a snack. The library served pizza, cookies, and punch, and held the drawings for the grand prize winners in all three age categories for the summer reading program contest.
The summer reading program kicked off on June 20 and ran for nine weeks. The theme was "Dig Into Reading."

Each week the library drew prizes for one winner in each of three age categories: pre-school-grade 2, grades 3-6, and grades 7-12.
When participants turned in reading logs, they were given tickets for the number of pages they had read. These tickets were placed in the grand prize drawing box for each age category, so those who read the most had the greatest chance of winning.
Grand prizes included a bicycle in each of the age categories (donated by Silver Creek summer resident Luis Alcivar, who runs the non-profit organization Karma Racer).
Second place prizes included a Kindle for the oldest age category, donated by the Friends of the Anderson-Lee Library. The other second place prizes were a backpack with school supplies and new books for the middle age group, and a cinch pack with a big toy dinosaur for the youngest group.
The grand prize winners in the 7-12 category were Alyssa Graziano and Jacob Malette. In the 3-6 category, the winners were Amanda Roth and Alex Doner, and in the pre-school-2 group, the winners were Bobby Roth and Jimmy Curry.
The library also awarded prizes for the best attendance which went to the Meyer family (Leif, Eli, Vigo, and Percy). Congratulations to all of the children for their reading efforts this summer.
Children who attended the final celebration also received a book prize of their choice, and a new stuffed animal (donated by George and Bea Ortolano).
It was a wonderful finale to a very successful summer reading program.
